I had a great grandpa who was a officer in the polish army sadly he was killed in the katyn massacre by the russians during ww2. The other soldiers from the polish army were shot and killed in the forest by the russians. This is a tragic story because the russians lied to the polish army telling them they were going home back in Poland which had the polish army excited thinking they were coming home. Little did they know that they would never return home. This left my grandpa and my great grandma wondering for years not knowing what happened back in Poland.

Sorry for your loss

As sad it is i don't think there was any other possible way my bloodline be carried on i guess sacrifices i have to be made. ):

Sorry for your loss. your great grandpa was a great man, a remarkable man, defending Poland from both The Soviet Union and The Third Reich,He shall be remembered and honored.... Just as the other 22,000 Executed in the forest...

MY great grandfather served on all fronts in the Indian army he survived the war and became one of the best soldiers we ever had .

My great grandfather was panzer ace for destroying 23 tanks he surrendered to the British. My great grandmother was in civil defense but passed away in the air raid over Berlin and my grandfather destroyed 3 tanks with an anti-aircraft gun on the outskirts of Berlin and got an Iron cross. It's in a Berlin museum.

Great men... We shall remember!

Otto Han Heisberger

I have not been able to find any Panzer Ace named "Otto Han Heisberger". You sure that was his name?

I checked the list of top German Panzer aces and also could not find a Heisberger anywhere, and no results for a Otto Han Heisberger in any form. ?(

Curiousity.....I don't think any man could get away with Putting 23 Tanks out of action without gaining any attention, Online or Not.

Try checking the bundeswehr museum digital archives. It was the last year of the conflict so medals were thrown around but only the best one with kills being in hundreds got recognized. I don't know if the archives are available to you but I will add links if possible.

Yes, Please give me a link. I would love to hear about Your great grandfather.

Last year of the conflict was chaos but there are a LOT of panzer aces with hundreds of destroyed tanks and they don't get attention as much. Mainly because only the digital archives are available but if you go digging around Hamburg and Dortmund then you will find quite a few people with some rare ww2 stuff.

I myself have obtained quite a few historical Second world war Artifacts. Why? Because I want History to be remembered and Preserved.
