'Murica where more people have died due to Gun crime since the 60's/70's than the number US soldiers who died from all the wars america fought in combined.

I call bull. Crime rate in America was never abnormally high in recent years, and crime has actually been steadily decreasing over time.

"So many people die annually from gunfire in the US that the death toll between 1968 and 2011 eclipses all wars ever fought by the country. According to research by Politifact, there were about 1.4 million firearm deaths in that period, compared with 1.2 million US deaths in every conflict from the Revolutionary War to Iraq."

Slice the suicides and accidental deaths off and it goes back down to under the casualties of war.. Which is still leaves us with a problem.

Yea, but the accidental deaths are still caused by guns. C'mon america stop being sucking up to the Gun tycoons who want to keep on making tons of cash out of supplying guns no matter the cost

I am strongly against the right to bear arms, but I guess it's ingrained in 'Muricans minds. I mean, we have a guy called Pablo Iglesias here in Spain. He's the leader of a party called Podemos. Communists and populists. One fine day he actually said 'el derecho a portar armas es una de las bases de la democracia'. The right to bear arms is one of the pillars of democracy.

Obama never tried to ban guns.
And I did acknowledge that the US was not in a good spot with gun deaths. I just believe that gun suicides should be kept separate from gun accidents should be kept separate from gun assault.
IMO any data that doesn't meaningfully distinguish between such deaths is less honest and complete than it could be.
