I was going to say it, but it is favourite war movies, and it is called Star *Wars* so I think it's okay. I did say LOTR as an honourable mention.

@injinji, here's a link to the full movie on Youtube:

You will note that @StrangeTalent's avatar is actor Sean Connery in the role of Maj. Gen. Roy Urquhart, the commanding officer of the British 1st Airborne Division, as portrayed in the movie.

Also, Band of Brothers is my favorite.

I would have ranked both Band of Brothers and The Pacific among my top 10, but both are technically classified as television miniseries and not cinematic motion pictures.

Funny anecdote about the production of A Bridge Too Far . . . At the time Sean Connery (relatively fresh off playing James Bond in five movies from 1963 to 1971) was cast in A Bridge Too Far in 1976, Roy Urquhart was still living. Being the crusty old bastard that he was, Urquhart allowed that his daughters were excited to see Connery cast as their father, but he claimed not to know who Connery was before he accepted the role.

I was a kid when this movie was shot in my home town. I'm actually even IN this movie, being an extra when XXX corps enters Eindhoven and is slowed down by celebrating Dutch civilians. I'm one of the waving flags. Earned me 20 guilders which was quite a lot of money back then. I remember the whole cinema was more focused on recognizing Deventer streets than on the story, going, "that's the Assenstraat!" when para's were advancing into "Arnhem". It was such an exciting summer... cardboard houses being built around the bridge, the Leopard (pretending to be a Panther, shame shame!) destroying one of them, (there's about three hours between the house standing and the shot being fired and the next shot when the house has a big black hole in it, I waited for that). The Son bridge which was blown up was at the recreation lake where I used to surf... so many memories about that summer!

Well, that finally solves that mystery: you're Dutch. And that also explains your exceptionally fluent English skills without being from the States, UK, or other Commonwealth country.
