The way the American elections work if Johnson gets only a few of the votes he could potentially get elected in a close race between Clinton and Trump. The candidate with the majority of electoral college votes gets elected to be president, not with the most. So if Clinton, Trump and Johnson have less than the majority of votes, the election goes to the house of representatives. The people in the house of representatives gets to vote on whoever they want, and whoever wins that election wins the entire presidential race. The last time an election went to the house of representatives was in 1800.
Yea, I am well aware of the America electoral college, its a pretty good system, to an outsider..
But didnt know that the election went to the house, but if it did go to the house, could Johnson get it?
Like a lot of democrats are divided and The republicans are divided as well...
Johnson can appeal to both, well his social views are similar to the majortiy of Democrats, and their fiscal views are extreme conservative.. He could pull it off... Only if he gets in the debates, and to do that, he needs to make 15% in the polls
But, Mitt Rommney put his support behind Johnson and Welds, having welds on that ticket is what will make it do a lot better. He was very popular in Massachusetts. Johnson appears to be popular in New Mexico, but I stand to be corrected there..
A lot of republicans are putting support behind Johnson, personally Id rather have seen Welds as president nominee, and Johnson as VP
I think if the ticket was like that, it would have been a lot better...
But Look at the electorate, The border states to the south, could support Trump, with his immigration joke of an idea, but Johnson was actually a governer of a state on the border, and could really be an alternative for those who care about immigration...
It all depends on weather or not johnson gets to 15% in the polls
