All I need to say.
Do you guys have any thoughts about the Olympics?
Who will win what, will it be successful, security measures, etc...?

I think they need to host the Olympics in countries who can actually support hosting them.

Well, they didn´t decide try host in Rio yesterday, so at that time, the city could actually try to host it. But after 2014/2015 crisis, things gone down the toilet, to don´t say other things. Everyday it´s just gets worse, and Rio´s mayor is an absolute ***...vex03 wrote:

Well, I suppose. South America is a sh*thole though, this is things they are going to have to start taking into account for security reasons.
Not the continent as whole please, we do have some decent places here, even if they aren´t some like New York, London, Paris, etc... The thing is, pretty much every government only cares to stay in power, ever heard on what´s happening in Venezuela? The country is pretty much Rio 100 times worse.
Is it just me or does it seem like the Olympics are no big deal this time around? I mean you don't see all of the hype promotion wise that you normally do during the Olympics. Maybe its because I don't really watch a lot of TV anymore though but it just seems lightened this time.
That's just what I was thinking today.ATownGtr wrote:

All I have to say about the Olympics is go team New Zealand!!!
Either: The world knows that it will pretty much fail, or, the our media knows it will pretty much fail. It´s literally that. However, we keep seeing reports about security measures on a daily basis... Everyday is pretty much: ´´Oh, the police and army and making simulations of terrorist attack.´´ATownGtr wrote:

Also, everyday the Federal Police, is arresting people who have some suspicions, and is observing over 100 suspects... ´´Oh, how nice!´´ yeah, 100 possible terrorists, how nice!
Kiwi team, best team!Nathan the Warrior wrote:

coming up to 2012, I was super excited, I was looking forward to them, they great entertainment. Now Im like. .Meh..
Bunch of people not participating because of that virus. Not to mention the waste of money that has been spent...
That money could have been spent, in soo many better ways.. One of the Stadiums from the world cup, is now abandoned and home to like 20 different species of birds or something like that

Zika is not much of a problem anymore, since it´s winter now, so it hardly will be dangerous as it was before.
Yeah, they spent like $20 Bi on the World Cup, while there where many much important things to be investing at the moment. If we put things in comparison, the World Cup and the Olympics are actually just causing more problems to the country.
The heck? I don't care where you stand on the political spectrum. This is stupid. You might say "They spent the money, may as well use the stadium..." Yeah! They have to use the stadium! But preferably not for birds!oceanhawk wrote:

The problem is, they (our/´´my´´ government) built them in the middle of the Amazon forest, literally in the middle of nothing, there´s ain´t even local soccer teams to play there. So in the end, they just wasted a whole bunch of money. However, one of the stadiums built for the World Cup in 2014, will be used this year in the Olympics... Still, was not really necessary, we had and have more important things to care about now.purplepizza117 wrote:

At least they are being put to good use, right? Though I heard Brazil needs a lot of new roads.

... Why? They could have built it in an actual city and used it for the Olympics they knew they would host. In fact, the Olympics were awarded to Rio and Brazil back in 2009. They had to know they should use a place that was already built to host the Olympics? No? No. They used it for birds instead.Quasi-duck wrote:
