Towards the end of the war, mr Churchill put forward a plan to Roosevelt called "operation unthinkable" it involved stabbing big joe Russia in the back, freeing Eastern Europe from the new tyranny with nuclear bombs a key weapon.
My point is this, do you think it would have worked and why? Or do you think it would not have worked, and why?

Here's what Russia would look like, recognise ? You might have seen it in Call of Duty 4 ,Chernobyl. And basically the scenario that you are describing, Dave is exactly what happened in Fallout game series and Metro game series. We were so close to that, but it did't happen ( thankfully ). Imagine wearing gas masks to school everywhere you went because of raiation.High food prices electricity losses and humanity would've had started from the begginning which would be bad.

Still, such a fate is the price for human folly for power. And yes it's bad, very bad. But humanity will still not learn its lesson, factions will fight each other than working together just to survive.
This is why dictatorship is better if the dictator is a VERY smart and GOOD like everything will be great, just imagine the greatest most benevolent leader in human history as a dictator.

Russia didn't have nukes in '46 and if they did, they would not have been able to touch US soil with them.

Most likely the Americans would make launch pads in England and launch their nukes from there.

Pads? You mean strips. They didn't have missiles.

Then they would bomb the living day light out of Russia and most of Europe, as the radio activity also travels with the wind.

Yup bad enough for people to fight over food, gas masks, shelter and weapons.
