Pirelli 2017 Spec Tyre Development

I do see both perspectives in respect to tire wear and durability. On one hand having a degrading tire can create interesting strategic variations but on the other, fragile tyres dilute the talent of a driver. It's like Usain Bolt wearing shoes where he cannot run his race as fast as his potential without them breaking apart and tripping him down. :rotfl: .

The holy grail of an F1 tyre is one that maintains performance until the rubber wears beyond a certain point. Basically one that allows maybe 30 - 35 laps of optimal performance regardless if a driver is driving flat out or within himself. If Pirelli cannot achieve this maybe the FIA should ask for low degrading F1 tyres and mandate 2 pit stops per race for all drivers (each one on a different compound).

It will be interesting to hear feedback on the 2017 tyres from drivers like Vettel, Hamilton and Alonso.

Btw, I think that the 2017 spec tyres look fantastic.
