Last I checked, the Islamic Caliphate fell after WW1.
What do you mean?
The Islamic Caliphate was the 'empire' for Muslims. It was pretty much the Ottoman Empire. Since the Ottoman Empire dissolved after WW1, Islam fell into a state of disarray and disputes between the sects of Islam has created the horror that is the Middle East today.
I still don't see your point.

I believe the sects you are talking about, Sunni and Shia, were formed in the 600's AD. It's nothing new and the Middle East, the centre of insanity so to speak, is nothing new.

What I meant was that the disputes between the sects intensified.

@Kehsct is right, the fall of the Ottomans screwed up the ME quite a bit. The British made colonies there and divided lands up along nice, straight, easy to manage lines with no regard for the local populace. This lead to a lot of trouble.

I'm pretty sure Osama Bin Laden mentioned that on the news after 9/11... At least something relating to it.

I should've known this would happen. You cannot talk about American politics without:

A) Starting a religious war. I'm not atheist, but i don't think God gives a s@!# about who's president.

B) Starting a racial war, which has 100% more potential to turn violent IRL. Thankfully this has not happened here. Yet.

It seems no place is immune to this.

To be honest, I dont see why it should.

There is and should be a separation between Church and State.

Religion, outside of its legit function, is just bad..

and of course God is real..

We as a nation, the United States of America, is functioning as well as we can under a curse from God. That curse is punishment for falling away -- corporately -- from a unified faith in Him. And since I don't believe we will return to a right faith in God as a nation, I believe we are doomed as a nation.

What once was a glorious and "shining city on a hill", America, has become a den of evildoers and wickedness. God help the remnant of Christians that remain in her. For America the bold has become a shame before God.

I don't think it's a curse, personally. It's His plan, and we have to go forwards with whatever He puts out for us... Remember His hand is on everything, and it is His will that Donald Trump is the Republican nominee and Hillary Clinton's the Democrat nominee.
To be fair, Donald J. Trump is not the nominee yet. God -- in His infinite wisdom -- may yet choose to cause the Donald to step down, or to be challenged by some other means, or even to have an heart attack. Whatever God chooses, it is His will. But I do believe our nation is cursed because of our disobedience as a Church -- corporately -- in America.

Daniel 2:21 says, of God, that "He changes times and seasons; He deposes kings and raises up others. He gives wisdom to the wise and knowledge to the discerning."

He will allow our world to experience changes such that those unbelievers (and believers who aren't aware of the Word and Will of God) may choose to interpret the perceived changes in the environment to a be a potential disaster and that it is by the work of man and not the work of God that our world is experiencing these changes.

He will allow different leaders to rule and He will cause some to falter and fall. It isn't known for sure whether it is His direct Will that every leader is appointed as they are or else whether God picks and chooses only some of them. I choose to believe that God is in complete control such that no leader is ever appointed BUT by His will. That is why I believe we are cursed as a nation. Because if we were still blessed with an hedge about us, then we would easily be electing righteous rulers whom follow the will of God and openly proclaim salvation by Jesus and admit they have indeed sinned and needed redemption by the Blood of Christ. Ted Cruz, Mike Huckabee, Jim Santorum, and some of the other candidates for President proclaimed this in all humility. However, Donald Trump, Hillary Clinton, and Bernie Sanders (among others) have not proclaimed this -- let alone in humility.

Because God "gives wisdom to the wise and knowledge to the discerning", as Christians who faithfully choose to rely on the Word of God first and above all the teachings of man, that we can see the realities of this lost and fallen world and know the by the wisdom that God bestows upon us that the leadership He appoints to our nation is in response to His curses or His blessings. That is a part of discernment.

Um, I'm pretty sure Yahweh, the God of Judaism, is also the God of the Christians. We just usually don't call Him by that name, rather we usually refer to the Father as Jehovah. And Yahweh is a misnomer: from Hebrew, it's actually better translated as " YHWH ". We Christians call upon the same God of Abraham, Isaac, and David. For it is the same heritage that we can claim thanks to Jesus Christ.

Through the gracious gift of salvation by the blood of Jesus Christ poured out for us at His sacrifice, gentile Christians are called to be grafted onto the vine that is the House of Israel. That house is the chosen nation through which God appointed to fulfill His work on earth and it was through that house that His Son would enter the world. And, with adoption by the Father for us gentiles through the blood of Jesus' sacrifice, it is the Son whom calls us brothers and sisters and redeemed us back into the Kingdom of God.

Don't forget, it was because the Son entered the world through the House of Israel, that Jesus was Jewish. He was an Hebrew. Jesus called the gentiles the "prodigal son" and He showed that we gentiles needed to be redeemed back into the House of the Lord. And it was His mission -- in part -- to accomplish this feat -- to bring gentiles into the fold. This is a part of why the Lord established His Church: to minister to others and to enjoin them into the Kingdom of God which is made up of the Family of God. And it is because Jesus acknowledges us as sons [and daughters] of God -- that he calls us brother and sister -- that we can therefore count ourselves a part of the Family of God. This is why, when I pray to God, I can call Him "Father". For He is my Heavenly Father and I have been granted a birthright in the Kingdom of God (it's called that because God is King over creation) and because of that, I am like a prince before the nations. I will receive a crown in Heaven and My King, Jesus, will inherit the throne of God and the earth will be His footstool.

This is not just mere imagery. This is the reality of our existence. And any who reject the call to join the Family and Kingdom of God will not be allowed to enter the new city of Jerusalem. They will live outside with the dogs where there is weeping and gnashing of teeth (as in the Lake of Fire).

With the direction this thread is going, I believe there is a need for others to understand a part of what I believe, And so I have included a part of the plan according to the Word of God.

Spoiler

[THIS IS THE HOPE OF THE CHURCH OF GOD. OUR VICTORY BY SALVATION IN JESUS CHRIST]

~These Biblical excerpts are only from Revelation (20:4-6; 20:11-15; 21:1-8; 22:14-15). They do not include details about the method of our salvation nor are they the whole story. But this scripture is prophecy, which is known future told as history and -- for the most part -- has yet to happen.

[The Church is redeemed from this world -- the Rapture and Resurrection of Christians and Faithful Jews]

Revelation 20:4 And I saw thrones, and they sat upon them, and judgment was given unto them: and I saw the souls of them that were beheaded for the witness of Jesus, and for the word of God, and which had not worshipped the beast, neither his image, neither had received his mark upon their foreheads, or in their hands; and they lived and reigned with Christ a thousand years.

5 But the rest of the dead lived not again until the thousand years were finished. This is the first resurrection.

6 Blessed and holy is he that hath part in the first resurrection: on such the second death hath no power, but they shall be priests of God and of Christ, and shall reign with him a thousand years.

[Everyone else is resurrected and then judged according to their works]

Revelation 20:11 And I saw a great white throne, and him that sat on it, from whose face the earth and the heaven fled away; and there was found no place for them.

12 And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened: and another book was opened, which is the book of life: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works.

13 And the sea gave up the dead which were in it; and death and hell delivered up the dead which were in them: and they were judged every man according to their works.

14 And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death.

15 And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire.

[The Church inherits the Kingdom]

Revelation 21:1 And I saw a new heaven and a new earth: for the first heaven and the first earth were passed away; and there was no more sea.

2 And I John saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down from God out of heaven, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband.

3 And I heard a great voice out of heaven saying, Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and he will dwell with them, and they shall be his people, and God himself shall be with them, and be their God.

4 And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away.

5 And he that sat upon the throne said, Behold, I make all things new. And he said unto me, Write: for these words are true and faithful.

6 And he said unto me, It is done. I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end. I will give unto him that is athirst of the fountain of the water of life freely.

7 He that overcometh shall inherit all things; and I will be his God, and he shall be my son.

8 But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death.

[The redeemed shall enter the city of God]

Revelation 22:14 Blessed are they that do his commandments, that they may have right to the tree of life, and may enter in through the gates into the city.

15 For without are dogs, and sorcerers, and whoremongers, and murderers, and idolaters, and whosoever loveth and maketh a lie.

It seemed like such a waste to destroy an entire battle station just to eliminate one man. But Charlie knew that it was the only way to ensure the absolute and total destruction of Quasi-duck, once and for all.

No, I want you to answer. Is being a fanatic believer inherently bad? It's the doctrine that someone believes in that makes the fanatic-icy bad. The Inquisition was not bad because it was Christian believers: it was bad because the Catholic Church was burning people alive! The Crusades were not bad because it was fought between Christian and Muslim armies: it was bad because the commonly held belief was that "If I capture this city, I will have loot!" and therefore just became a bloody mess of a series of wars. Not because they were Islamic or Christian: because their worldview was changed in the Levant from one of a true believer (for many of them) to one of a greedy man.

Um, I actually support and defend the Crusades and I believe we should call on a new crusade...actually two of them.

We need a crusade against Islam and we need a crusade against secular humanism.

But, since most Christians are namby pamby types who just want to sit around pretending that everything is OK, we won't be having any crusades against the evils of our generation. But this was prophesied in the Bible, so I'm not fretting about the outcome. And since the Church-corporate is not obeying the Lord and standing up, united, against those evil world systems nor against their evil outcomes (like abortion, euthanasia, open homosexuality and gay marriage, wanton crime, hostile riots, disaffected souls, and even the American federal government itself), because of our lack of obedience to God in these matters, is why I say we are a cursed nation.

The United States is cursed because the Church in the United States has been disobedient and not faithful. We have given in to apostasy in the Church and that is a toxic poison that is hurting the Body of Christ (which is the Church). We have been (and continually will be) receiving the just punishment by God for disobedience and we shall remain so unless and until we turn from our wicked ways.

II Chronicles 7:14 says "if my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land."

Kehsct wrote:

Actually, I was ordained by my local Church for a period of one year while I considered the ministry in College. But, I chose the sciences instead and have been using my Biblical approach to engineering and physics to see the world in the light of how God has truly fashioned it.

I am hyper-critical of anything and anyone opposed to the Word of God and I will gladly defend the faith and the true interpretations of Logic and Science against the scoffers of this world (and the Bible prophesied there would be many in this time-period). I am an apologist for the God and His Bible, the faith, the prophesies in the Bible, Young Earth Creationism and the realities of Noah's Flood, and a strict literal interpretation of the Bible as it was given by God to man.

Above all, I'm a believer in God and a born-again child of His Kingdom. My citizenship is in Heaven though I live in this world. My life has been and will continue to be a reflection of the holiness of God, the love of Christ, and the faithfulness of the Holy Spirit. And that is something that no man may take away from me nor is it a light that anyone can dim.

If we're going to have a war over religion, let's make a different thread.

Victory at all costs, victory in spite of all terror, victory however long and hard the road may be; for without victory, there is no survival.

Attack rapidly, ruthlessly, viciously, without rest, however tired and hungry you may be, the enemy will be more tired, more hungry. Keep punching.

A religion that condones the killings of innocent people is probably not one I'd think I would follow personally. There are very few like that. It is not the religion that kills...per se... But the people who make the choice to use religion as their casus beli. During those times it was about power and land grabbing. Also most of these "religious" wars was to defend from invaders trying to kill you. Due to one of the crusades, the moors were pushed away from Spain. Another example, Christianity does not tell you to kill others(There is a commandment that forbids that). In that case, anyone who is going against their religious "rules", are not really the religion they say they are. I could claim that I am muslim, or Jewish, but does that make me it?

On a further note, there is nothing wrong with being passionate about what you believe in, fanatic believer may be the wrong choice of term. I am quite devoted to Call of War, but I wouldn't call myself a fanatic over it. ^^

If Christians aren't supposed to kill, then what about all those soldiers who pray to god in a time of need?

Victory at all costs, victory in spite of all terror, victory however long and hard the road may be; for without victory, there is no survival.
