Went to check whether some forces arrived in my port yet, and was greeted with the image below. Reminds me of the scene in the Close Encounters of the Third Kind Special Edition, where they discover the huge ship in the middle of the Gobi Desert.

Nice reference. It's been a lot of years since I last watched Close Encounters, and I had forgotten that scene from the movie completely.
Having grown up in Florida, the scene that stuck with me was the five TBM Avengers from Flight 19 which mysteriously reappeared with half-full gas tanks.

Having spent part of the summers of my youth sailing back and forth between South Florida and the Bahamas, things that inexplicably disappeared in the "Bermuda Triangle" seemed a lot scarier back then. Between Jaws and Close Encounters of the Third Kind, Steven Spielberg was responsible for a lot of the irrational fears of my childhood. And I still won't go swimming in the ocean after dark . . . .

aahh, gotta love TV Nation
"You're beginning to think that the tube is reality, and that your own lives are unreal. You do whatever the tube tells you! You dress like the tube, you eat like the tube, you raise your children like the tube, you even *think* like the tube! This is mass madness, you maniacs! In God's name, you people are the real thing!"

and using quotes from the tube to argue against the tube, we don't stand a chance anymore!!
