oil money
All a huge waste of money when Saudi Arabia should be preparing for when all that oil money runs out and climate change hits the Middle East. Their regime could have built a wealthy professional and educated state that even without many resources could survive and grow after its oil resources run out, sort of like how Japan and Korea are so wealthy without any resources (but even easier since youβd be starting with copious amount of wealth) but instead they just waste money on useless things like that that will never pay off, all while twisting religion to oppress their own people. Disappointing and unnoble.
