What are you reading?
I'm a few chapters into Orson Scott Card's 'Ender's Game' ... I'm a sci fi fan reader ... I'm also an author and recently published a sci fi book about the 1947 UFO crash in Roswell, New Mexico- even went to the UFO museum there! ... Here is a link to a video for my book (https://youtu.be/wI81yDMjGeE) provided by the Publisher ... If you are a sci-fi fan, look up my book (1947: The Greys' Odyssey to Earth)! ... Pass the word! ..starc3655 wrote:

βPower is in tearing human minds to pieces and putting them together again in new shapes of your own choosing.β
β George Orwell, 1984
That sounds more like abuse of power.pjrobbo wrote:

1984 is a classic sci fi with lots of tidbits about living in a totalitarian dictatorships. By putting back together pieces of your mind in new shapes of your own choosing, I believe that Orwell was telling us that we choose to either rebel or conform to the dictatorship. Unfortunately lots of people choose the latter, thus you have long lived dictatorships like the ones in North Korea and my native Cuba ...pjrobbo wrote:

I read 1984, and the plot is... not what I expected.gusv wrote:

"Giving up is not an option in war, for it proves one's incapability and incompetence as a leader." - Me (Little Racoon)
I'm currently reading a book called "The Thorn Birds". It's really interesting, probably my favorite one of all. I also read blogs about showbusiness and celebrities, like this one https://news.amomama.com/189448-robert-richard-one-one-is-all-grown-is-l.html. For me, it's a bit relaxing.
I read two books at a time, one fiction, one nonfiction.
Non-fiction: The Intelligent Investor
Fiction: The Last Lieutenant: Todd Ingram Series Book 1 - great geopolitical spy novel so far and has a lot of action in the Pacific theater of war
