I am wondering what each rank of the army does. How many people they are in charge of. Also, I want to know what the warrant officer does.

Warrant officers main job most the time is to serve as a technical expert, as well as lead during combat and give technical training (or guidance) they also have specific duities of operating and maintaining military equipment.

As a Retired Chief Warrant 5, a Commissioned officer is an officer by commission, a Warrant officer is an officer by warrant, as an NCO ( or Non-commissioned Officer) is designated an officer by experience.
Generally what this works out to is a Warrant is usually someone who has specialized in field and as such has earned the title of officer, most notably you will find these ranks in helicopter pilots, law enforcement, or staff positions and other very specialized fields ~ ( considered similar to mustangs (officers that started as enlisted))
They are known as honest, focused and competent leaders, with a take charge mentality.
Hope that helps clear up your question for you. but the questions requires a very broad answer, that without appropriate background, might only confound the issue.
Keep in mind this relates only to the US Army, other nations and branches have varying definitions of duties and such.
