What is your favourite war song?

Sabaton is a Swedish heavy metal band that creates songs about historical war events.

I especially like their song "The Art of War":

[Spoken Intro]

If you know the enemy and know yourself, you need not fear the result of a hundred battles

If you know yourself but not the enemy, for every victory gained you will also suffer a defeat

If you know neither the enemy nor yourself, you will succumb in every battle

[Verse 1]

I stand alone

And gaze upon the battlefield

Wasteland

Is all that's left after the fight

And now I'm searching a new way to defeat my enemy

Bloodshed

I've seen enough of death and pain

[Chorus]

I will run - they will hunt me in vain

I will hide - they'll be searching

I'll regroup - feign retreat they'll pursue

Coup de grâce

I will win but never fight

[Refrain]

That's the Art of War!

That's the Art of war!

[Verse 2]

Breaking the will to fight among the enemy

Force them to hunt me

They will play my game

And play by my rules

I will be close but still untouchable

No more will I see suffering and pain

[Chorus]

They will find me no more

I'll be gone

I will have them surrounded

They will yield without fight overrun

Coup de grâce

I will win but never fight

[Refrain]

That's the Art of War!

That's the Art of War!

[Bridge]

Broken and lost

Tired of war

They'll surrender to me

Caught in my trap

There's no way out

Fail never again (never again)

[Chorus]

I will run - they will hunt me in vain

I will hide - they'll be searching

I'll regroup - feign retreat they'll pursue

Coup de grâce

I will win but never fight

[Refrain]

That's the Art of War!

That's the Art of war!

That's the Art of war!

That's the Art of war!

[Spoken Outro]

Hence to fight and conquer in all your battles is not supreme excellence

Supreme excellence consists in breaking the enemy's resistance without fighting

Some of my favorites:

The Cranberries - Zombie

But you see, it's not me, it's not my family

In your head, in your head, they are fightin'

With their tanks and their bombs and their bombs and their guns

In your head, in your head, they are cryin'

Tom Waits - Swordfishtrombone

Well, he came home from the war with a party in his head

And an idea for a fireworks display

And he knew that he'd be ready with a stainless steel machete

And a half a pint of Ballentine's each day

And he holed up in room above a hardware store

Cryin' nothing there but Hollywood tears

He put a spell on some poor little Crutchfield girl

And stayed like that for twenty-seven years

Sisters of Mercy - Gimme Shelter (Rolling Stones cover)

War, children, it's just a shot away

Rape, murder, it's just a shot away

The Pogues - The band played Walzing Matilda (already promoted in a different thread, but can't do it enough)

So they collected the cripples, the wounded and maimed

And they shipped us back home to Australia

The legless, the armless, the blind and insane

Those proud wounded heroes of suvla

And as our ship pulled into circular quay

I looked at the place where me legs used to be

And thank Christ there was nobody waiting for me

Dead Kennedies - Holiday in Cambodia

Well, you'll work harder with a gun in your back

For a bowl of rice a day

Slave for soldiers till you starve

Then your head is skewered on a stake

New Model Army - Spirit of the Falklands

'Cause they'd kill if they only had something to kill for

They'd die if they only had something to die for

They'd cheer if they only had something to cheer for

We can give them that

Rage Against the Machine - Killing in the Name of

Now you do what they told ya

Killing in the name of

Fuck you, I won't do what you tell me

When the enemy is driven back, we have failed. When he is cut off, encircled and dispersed, we have succeeded.

I LOVE SABATON but for actual like war song i like

For a war song, it doesn't get better than Bad Religion's Let Them Eat War. Yes, I recognize the irony as it's really an anti-war song.

Affirmative with this opinion.

I haven't verified that, but people who live in a peaceful society might not clear that the madness of military personnel based on their actual experiences.

Even if no matter how much knowledge they gain and no matter how they interview on the battlefield.

Perhaps Sabaton won't be exception.

My favorite war song is not just war song but a rebel anthem.

Come Out Ye Black and Tans

"Strategy is the art of making use of time and space. I am less concerned about the later than the former. Space we can recover, lost time never." ~ Napoleon Bonaparte
"Anyone who has to fight, even with the most modern weapons, against an enemy in complete command of the air, fights like a savage against modern European troops, under the same handicaps and with the same chances of success." ~ Erwin Rommel

Good day to die (Startroopers 3 theme song).

We are soldiers.

TOP 10 Sabatons Songs.

The Star Spangled Banner is basically a war song.

Which is 100% appropriate for our nation.

We love to start wars.

Especially in other countries, safely far away.......
