To be correct, the "Western World" as a whole won the Cold War. And can people please stop saying America is Imperialistic. Well conventional armies no longer win wars, with guerrilla warfare a few 'freedom fighters' and some bombs and you've turned an army around. Its like playing a big game of 'Hidden in plain sight'

Stalingrad was a battle of "Rats" as the Germans called it, this showed the true German weakness which was close quarter hand to hand combat, the Soviet Army was designed for brutality and no mercy to their enemies, defensively both armies were tragic; Stalingrad was saved by an able commander who knew how to deploy few men into a city of rubble...
So overall for me the Germans would get it arguably the Waffen SS if they can be included as those guys were superior to most forces in Europe for their fighting ability, but the Wehrmacht was never as good and neither was most forces in Europe.
