So, while I'm waiting around for a dentist's appointment, and I need something to distract myself, I realised that we didn't have a thread like this.
So it's a case of who had made an impression in the years of war. This could be anything from the Rosie the Riveter to the Ukrainian born Red Army sniper Lyudmila Pavlichenko.
So, who do YOU think played an important part.
Because so many men enlist for the war, Woman replaced the men in american factories and manufactories. Every woman played their part during the war, at home or at the front.
True, I'm just looking for some great tales of heroism.
I like this one woman who's name I can't remember. She was a Brit spy captured by the Germans and they used water torture to interrogate her. When asked if she was enjoying it she responded with "The waters a bit cold". I think she was the same one who said she was Churchill's relative as well but I am not sure.
