Your Favourite Movie

I am kind of running out of movies to see (I just watched Terminator Genesys, bull****, I have to say). I thought that if by starting a thread and people posting their three favourite movies, I would find some I would like to watch. Two rules:

  1. Movies AND mini-series count.
  2. Normal series (like True Detective, Homeland...) do not count. If you don't know the difference between a mini-series and a normal series, look it up.

Mine, which is a mini-series, is called Band of Brothers. Another one I love is Terminator 2. Finally, in third position is Black Hawk Down.

The past is a foreign country.

I love Mad Max Fury Road!

Anyways I don't really watch a lot of movies but one of my personal favorites is Snowpiercer. If you like dystopian, post-apocalyptic type media you would love this movie.

Fury Road was pretty good I must admit.

Generally speaking, I like the old WW2 movies: Iwo Jima, Midway, A Bridge Too Far, etc. For more modern tales on WW2, Saving Private Ryan, Hacksaw Ridge. Also, Top Gun, Firefox and Transformers(first 3).

And, non war related tv series - Buffy the Vampire Slayer and True Blood.

As I watched a TON of movies, its so hard to choose.

Yet, I will try.

Star Wars as a whole. And yes, I actually think (after some rewatching) the early 00s were generally better movies then the old ones, my fav being SW 3. Special mention to the Darth Maul end fight, best fight in movie history, especially thinking back on the music (Dual of the Fates)

Lord of the Rings...obviously. Fantastic movie, and I say this as someone who actually read the book.

Other genres etc to be mentioned

Requiem for a Dream (not for the soft hearted)

Inception

In Time (a forgotten SF cult movie of a few years back)

Braveheart

Boy in the Striped Pyjama's (if you dont cry, you arent human)

Hachi (same)

Interstellar (just beautiful, even though you cant understand anything that happens the last 30 minutes)

And this is just a part of a grand list for me. So many movies touch a specific part of my mind, its basically impossible to choose a certain favorite.

Special mention: Babylon 5, the series. Sure its not a movie, but the whole 5 season arc if watched as a whole, is just 1 very very very....long excellent movie that basically set a new ground to storytelling. It paved the way for series such as Lost and Game of Thrones...

Funny some people mentioned Starship Troopers. While the storytelling sucks, the movie was ground breaking and I count it among my favorites. Never thought Id see likeminded people;).

That movie introduced me to the F-14 Tomcat. I've had a love affair with it from a very young age lol
