I think the driver of the half-track likes it too.

Yes. Do you know why it is called the Meat Chopper?

What did they do though? It is an AA gun after all.

Well, they shot down planes. They were used to mow down Germans with gory effect.

Don't forget Vietcong! They are meant to be able to rip someone in half.

If it was never produced you can't say it was amazing.

Well if it looks amazing then it qualifies.

ya you are right however in practice it would have been destructive. Tho it was very heavy (around 90 tons) because it was based of the chassis of the E-100, it had a 210mm gun. just imagine if something was hit by it like an airfield or a tank. it would have hurt a lot. and thank you Comrade Dave

I don't think so. It would've been very slow and targeted by aircraft. In perfect circumstances, yes, it would've been good but I think it would've been a lot like the Maus.

Well german tanks toward the end of the war were getting a little out of hand. again you are right a little unreal. the maus had a 128mm gun and was around 170 ton. the E-100 had a 150mm gun and weighted around 140 tons. most of these tank are really bad and easy to kill but heavyly amroured and hard to kill by ground units. however the germans used them as more propaganda, kind of like the Ratte or the Panzer X or IX.

I think your missing the point BIll, these massive weapons would be a reality if the Germans weren't losing the war. If they were winning then they would have fielded them without worrying about air attack because the luftwaffe would be the effective force it was at the start of the war. I think this specific self-propelled gun wouldn't have the problems the Ratte or the Maus would when fighting the enemy because it would be for support not direct contact.

I do not doubt it's battlefield effectiveness, I just do not think it would work well in a war that was about aerial superiority, logistics and maneuverability

That's why it's war would be different. There would almost certainly be seiges as if so we call on this weapon. It's powerful cannon would be useful for smashing down defensive positions with ease besides, do you know it's engine type? The drive train it uses? It could actually be a very mobile piece of equipment, unless I'm wrong.

it had a max speed of 20 mph but by the later in devlopment there were plans the incease it to 45 mph

At the time, German stuff was alright for medium tanks but look at stuff like the Tiger. 54 tonnes and driving it would ruin the tank. Imagine a 90 tonne monster. Sieges weren't that common either, otherwise stuff like the Krupp k5 or the SU-100Y would've been used more.
