Maybe there might be a time limit and a point value modified by the team such that the Axis team gets maybe+50% the points for what they control to balance off their strategic weakness.

1. The teams are West, Axis and Russians. You select a team. Then you are randomly assigned one of the remaining countries.

3. A group of 3 that wanted to play together would have to all join the team. That probably won't be easy as anyone else joining the same team before all 3 joined would mess things up. So, no they wouldn't be assured of being able to get on the same team.
