AA query

I have a tactical bomber attacking a provice that only has a tank destroyer. But I notice my bomber loses health every attack. Any idea whats happening?

Even a level 1 tank destroyer carries a 0.9 air defense. Most units have some kind of air defence.

ALL units have some air defense capability. For some, it is minimal; for higher level AA units and some others, it can be formidable. For instance, on the low end, L1 militia have an AA defense value of 0.7 of a single AA defense strength point; on the high end, L7 battleships and L7 cruisers have 12 and 16 AA defense strength points, respectively.

Bottom line: big stacks inevitably have greater cumulative AA capability. The down side, of course, is that big stacks also make inviting targets for nukes after Day 40 of the game.

In my personal experience, the best defense against air attacks is a combination of AA units on the ground with patrolling fighter wings in the air above. Sort of like the real world.

Rockets, nuke rockets and nuke bombers = 0 My strategy so far has been to try to get to victory before things go nuclear ^^
