AI spawning in out of no where?

hey im curious why AI is spawning in out of nowhere, ill have vision on a country with only 3 provinces and they have only 3 units then when i attack and come back an hour later magically they have 5 units and have somehow taken no damage and destroyed the units i sent in? How is this possible?
