Aircraft heal when flying?

I imagine this question has been answered before, but trying to find the answer using the 'search' function is challenging...

QUESTION: Do aircraft heal (15% at day-change) if they are flying? If they are moving, or patrolling or attacking?

air units heal when they are operating from one of your airbases

Please clarify.

I understand now that, when patrolling or attacking they still heal if they are operating from my own airbase...

But when operating from an allied base, or moving from base to base, they do not heal.

Is this correct?
