Airfield Question

I am pretty new to this game.

I have one interceptor and two tactical bombers that were in route to a territory via airplane convoy.

This territory has an airfield (it is one of my occupied territories from another country I defeated).

I cannot use the planes because it says I need an airfield.

Any suggestions to what I am doing wrong?
