Antarctica AI question

So I am playing on a map where the human player has gotten some provinces, and then has stopped playing. When the AI takes over, will it keep producing units and attack / defend?

I had basically taken all the areas around him that was controlled already by Corps Strum (or one of the other computer generated AI's ), except for one province which was his. He had three tanks in there so I went ahead and destroyed them.

I think I unleashed the beast because as soon as I did that, I started loosing provinces to the player turned AI.
