Good old days, i remeber spamming barracks everywhere and pumping out Militia as my entire force
Medium tank spam, ships, ships especially were so cool for some reason.
Spamming AC, one-use paratroopers, having to deactivate your barracks, Destroyers in Clash, "hEaVy tAnKs ArE gOoD" noobs, infra gave econ boost, SP arty was king, nuclear submarines, rural capitals, and so much more!
Nuclear ships were cool, never used them though. Sad
This probably hits hard for the 1.0 folksTaffyta Muttonfudge wrote:

Destroyers having range. RRGβs were still fun to play with.
They still are now, but to a lesser extent.Carking the 6th wrote:

In my Maine game, I'm finding that SPRA is actually a good unit, especially when fighting tons of inactives.
My stacks of 3 L4 AC, 3 L4 LT, and 4 L3 Mot. Inf are pretty good because the AI usually doesn't build heavy armor.
Ranged is especially good against AI
Also tacs, because the AI apparently doesn't know how to put an int in the air.Carking the 6th wrote:

Right now the whole rest of the map consists of either inactive players or dumb-noobs.
Yes. I joined less than a month before the transtition to 1.0. I only played one round and never really worked out how to optimise. So a noob.
The update traumatised me and made me very hostile to updates forever.
Commandos were OP, also LTs were easily spammable. Strats like investing in extra IC for 6 productions instead of 5, having to disable naval bases and barracks if they consume too much, tac bombers reigning the sky, etc. Glad 1.5 came around thoTaffyta Muttonfudge wrote:

Main things I remember:
- Units automatically merging when taking damage so they remained above 50% health.
- Fielded units automatically upgrading when research of the next level finished.
- Building light tanks, light tanks, and light tanks.
- Motorized infantry as a defensive units!
- The beautiful, stylish "Canvas" GUI which was only deprecated because clouds couldn't blow across the battlefield in it. I still remember it warmly when comparing it to the ugly layout we now have when we want to clearly see terrain.
I still build lots of light tanks. LOL
Pre-balancing they sucked, only post-balancing did they become somewhat useableTaffyta Muttonfudge wrote:

Yeah I started off in the 1.0 days and was pretty bad lol.
I remember those days. My tactics still havenβt changed
