The effectiveness of a unit can be seen in the "state based damage effieciency" when you click the little "i" on the unit. If a unit is wounded it will have less strength in both attack and defense values.
Armor effectiveness
Apologies if this has been asked before, but I was curious about the effects of medium and heavy tanks. The rules talk about having a higher armor vs. attacks, but I was wondering about the actual values. Do they have an inherent damage resistance?

"I came, I saw, I conquered" Written in a report to Rome 47 B.C., after conquering Pharnaces at Zela in Asia Minor in just five days; as quoted in Life of Caesar by Plutarch; reported to have been inscribed on one of the decorated wagons in the Pontic triumph, in Lives of the Twelve Caesars, Julius, by Suetonius.
"Alea iacta est" Gaius Julius Caesar.
Hmmm neither one of those responses addressed my question at all.
If you click on the unit you can see info about it's armor etc. For example a lvl 1 MT has 25 HP which represents it's armor. A level 1 HT has 45 HP (more "armor"). This info popup also gives you information about what kind of damage these units typically do against other types of units, their speed and strength variance on different terrain, etc.
You asked whether armor had an inherent value which I answered. What more are you unsure of?
Please elaborate on your question.
thx
