Artillery question

Let's say I have 6 units attacking a target as one, and that one of these units in an artillery unit set to "aggressive" or "fire at will."

When all six units arrive at the target, the artillery will start shelling from the periphery.

Will all six units halt at the periphery during this shelling, or will the other 5 non-artillery units move on to directly engage the target?

Please advise.

All units will halt when the artillery units is in range and attacking.

What if the artillery attacks separately from the the five units?

A mixed stack that includes artillery should be ordered to MARCH when set to aggressive fire. This will allow the fire control to pause the march order in order to bombard any targets that come into range.

This allows you to set a march order and add target to make a complicated path, like so:

And in this case the units will follow the path when the way is cleared.

This can cause some delays when you are not paying attention though:

In this case I expected to have captured the capital by now:

You see that even though I could have captured the capital with under 15 minutes march my stack is waiting until it finishes killing the unit at AsbeTeferi.

I could explain the other configurations you asked about, but I think this is the combination you wanted to know about ;)
