As I understand it, you can't attack stealth units with a stack that can't "see" them, even if other stacks nearby can. For example, my Armored Cars may spot some militia hidden in a city, but my patrolling Tacs can't do any damage.
However, stealth units usually say "hidden when not fighting." Can all units attack fighting stealth units? So in the example above, if I send my Armored Cars into the city to engage the militia and they become un-stealthed, can my Tacs then do damage to them?
To answer my own question, the answer to this appears to be "no" but I don't understand why given the "hidden when not fighting" description.

All units can fight stealth units in melee combat. It would be like an ambush that springs by surprise. It usually wouldn't be to your advantage. However, a couple of units can reveal stealth units like Armored Cars, Motorized infantry and Interceptors. If you keep your AC within range to keep the stealth units revealed then you could bombard them with artillery. The same counts for planes, you should always have interceptors stacked with your bombers to reveal stealth units and to protect them against enemy aircraft.
Yes, thanks I understand that, though I am not confident that this is true unless the AC is in the same stack as the artillery:
My question concerns non-revealing units attacking stealth units that are already in melee combat. The description says "hidden when not fighting," which implies that these units aren't hidden when they're fighting. If the unit isn't hidden, my patrolling tacs should be able to do damage to it, but in practice this is not the case.BMfox wrote:

If you are locked in melee combat with stealth troops then your planes should be able to attack them too. Anyway the problem is easily solved with an interceptor in your plane stack.
Yea that's what I would have thought. I guess this needs to be a bug report, then: patrolling planes cannot attack stealth units even when revealed by melee combat.BMfox wrote:

Did some testing today. You were correct, I was able to bombard from a non-AC stack while an AC was in range revealing the hidden unit. Patrolling planes still cannot do damage.jubjub bird wrote:

That will be fixed in next week's update.jubjub bird wrote:
