There isn’t a way as far as I know...but you can look at the units you are producing and what they need, grab a calculator (if you need one), and do the math.

Build Cue Missing materials
When looking at the build cue, is there any way to determine specifically how much of which materials are required prior to the commencement of building? I can only see "waiting on x-material", but nothing more, such as "how much more is required" or if secondary materials are also on back-order.

You will have to do the math for yourself. If you are looking at the first item on the list you can check and see how much that unit costs and compare with your current inventory.
If you are looking at something further down and it shows something like “waiting on metal” you can sometimes estimate how many hours “late” it is going to start. For example if the currently producing item takes 5 hours, and the build queue shows “waiting on metal” and you see that it will start in 8 hours, Then you lack 3 hours of metal production. If you are producing 200 metal per hour then purchasing 600 metal might move the production time up. You also might find yourself short on something else.
