Call of war 1942

Hello, why this game calls ''Call of war 1942'' ??

When I look on the map, I see Europe 1939. So why 1942?? :tumbleweed:

Mess with the Bill, you get the scorn!

The Main theme is about 1942. The theme of the first Map is the roundabout year 1933.

I think we will get different types of maps where the phases of the War in Europe will be shown up from 1933 to 1945 or into the Cold War...

Why especially 1942? I donΒ΄t know. Maybe cause its halftime in 2nd worldwar?

first map is 1932

What I find even weirder - the game starts in 1932 and 24 days later it's 1955 and you have nukes :/

You may donΒ΄t look after a ingame day - year connection. Every game has its own speed and for this map the speed seems good.

I don't care what you call it, a day, week, year, whatever. The fact remains that in this game, you get nukes after only 24 turns. That's not a game about WWII in my book, it's WWIII.

30 days if you include build/research time, and the nuclear bombers can be shot down so are not a threat if you have got a good air force/AAA

Yep.

Okay, so it's 30 days - unless your opponent decides to use a few gm to crank up his research times, in which case he ends up with a MASSIVE advantage over the other players. And regardless, 30 days is still too soon IMO.

in a few games im on day 20 and already have 30+% of VPs, in a normal 50% VP win game i should be able to win before day 30, i don't see nukes being used much on the 10 player map anyway, unless its a game with many active players or more VPs needed to win, i think they wont be used much until a 30 player map is released or another map with more players... and in addition to this, the first nuclear bombers do a lot less damage than the final nuclear bomber lvl 3 and nuclear rockets, at lvl 1 the cost of the nuclear bomber is not worth the damage it does.. and then you have to find a group of enemy units to attack..

It still looks way too early to me. I wouldn't be at all surprised to see an eventual community backlash about the overpowering of air units, but it might take a while to develop.

But one thing they could do at any time is make nukes, or no nukes, an optional extra, so that players who don't want that option could just join nuke-free games.

What do you think is a suiting time for the rocket research in general? Have you allready reached the last step - the nuclear rocket - and used it? Some response about your experiences with the rockets and concrete ideas for improvements would be great. What i can read until now is that you all think it should be available later. But do you want it to become more historically correct or more suiting the gamemechanics like it is now?

For me the time and research steps are suiting allready. When you just want to research the rockets it is easy to get em but when you want to build the nuclear rocket you will need to research in another tech tree too and this costs one more research slot. The needed 2nd slot will not be available on another tech tree and the nation that tries to get to the nuclear rockets is in research allways a step behind the others.

Sounds good in theory rastermann, I hope you are right that nukes are more difficult to get than it appears, but I still have great reservations about the addition of these superweapons to the game. They look so powerful that it's hard to imagine anyone NOT prioritzing the nuke research tree at the expense of other technologies. And regardless, it won't stop the goldmark-equipped player from buying a massive advantage over other players.
