Marechal Saoul, if the ennemi has more and more AA for example you have 2 nuclear bombers vs 8 or more AA, i don't think you will won, and also you can see in the news paper if if you have successfully attacked, or failed. ( I speak just for bombers ), but the nuclear missiles they can't be beaten.Marechal Saoul wrote:

Can Single Use Weapons Have Reduced Damage ?
Since I've been told before that in melée combat, defenders shoot first, I wonder if any one knows whether single-use units like nuclear bombers and rockets impart reduced damage if there is a significant amount of AA present ? A rocket or bomber with low health should do lower damage due to SBDE.
I am of course talking about the cases where they are not shot down before delivering the payload, but "damaged" in the instant of impact by defending units. In the case of rockets ( level 2 and up ), even though they cannot be intercepted in mid-air by patrolling aircraft or destroyed prior to impact by AA, is it possible to mitigate damage with ground AA ( and perhaps, prior to the opponent having level 4+ rockets, combined with fortifications etc. ) ?
Thanks.

The missiles they can be intercepted by rocket fighter, this unit is effective against planes ( all type of avion ) and missiles except nuclear missiles, to reduce the state of the missile, if you see the missiles before and you attack it or you let the rocket fighters in partouille mode.Marechal Saoul wrote:

Like I already said in the post, I'm not talking about nuclear bombers being shot down. Of course you have to escort nuclear bombers with a bunch of other planes, and even so they are rarely used. I'm questioning negative damage modifiers at the moment of impact. For instance, 2 nuclear bombers and escorts vs. 3 SPAA. The bombers will deliver the bomb but be damaged in the process ( and prior to the bomb exploding, due to defenders shooting first ). So do they get reduced damage ?
I have never heard of rocket fighters intercepting anything above level 1 rockets / missiles. The only way to pre-emptively damage missiles that cannot be intercepted is by attacking them prior to launch, and/or disabling the airbase and attacking them in convoy form. Patrolling works only for level 1 rockets.ShiNtoK wrote:

i think the defender attacks always, same for plsnes and aa

- Only for plane attacks does the defender deal damage first. In other attacks both attacker and defender damage eachother simultaneously (it can even happen that both kill eachother in the same tick).
- Nuclear Bombers will get damaged by ground troops before delivering their bomb. The damage of the bomber will therefore be reduced, just like with other units which get damaged.
- Rockets can not be damaged during flight, therefore they never lose combat power.
lvl.1 rockets can get damaged though
You probably refer to Flying Bombs, which are a separate unit in CoW1.5. With Rockets I mean only rockets, not flying bombs.RiverWolf74 wrote:
