Can you forced-march a unit into dying?

Hey everyone,

Started playing this game again a few days ago after, oh, I dunno, a 4-year hiatus. I was wondering: in the new update, if you 'forced-march' a unit, does it automatically kill it once the unit gets down to 0% after the hitpoint bonuses? Or does it keep it alive but at only 1/x hitpoints? In this case it's level 1 infantry so 1/15.

If you could let me know, that would be great!

Forced march will not be possible once the unit's condition points go below 5 or 10% (don't remember which).

Could that be exploited easily to rush an injured unit to safety for healing?

Well, that's not an exploit, but if it's above 10% health, then yeah, you can use forced march to rush it away from battle.

welcome back, mr pizza

units can not force march if their condition is below 10 percent, so its not supposed to be possible to force march a unit into dying.

so, just to give a fancy answer, there is a way to force march a unit to death. if a unit is very very low in health, and you try to fm it repeatedly, it may expire. the reason, based on personal experience, is that force march takes its toll on the condition of the unit all the time its forced marching. its hard to put into words, but i mean that when you start fm-ing a unit, it immediately starts taking its damage. so, if you fm for 5 minutes, it will do 1/12th of 5 percent damage. if you forcemarch for 30 minutes, it will accrue 2.5 percent damage. so, its taking damage in real time. when you fm a unit below 10 percent damage, it still tries to force march just for an instant (snap distance is involved in this mechanic). so, if your unit is so low it cant take even a second of damage caused by the forced march, it will die.

to address the other question that came up in this thread:

Units heal 15 percent of their LOST condition at day change, if in ANY territory you own. thats even if theyre moving, even in combat, and being in a fort or province center makes no difference. morale makes no difference. ships heal everywhere. planes heal as long as they are stationed in an airbase you own. they dont heal on carriers and they dont heal if theyre operating out of an allies airbase.

so, yes. if youre close to day change and you want to force march a unit back into land you own, you can do some math and see if sacrificing the damage by force marching will be less than the damage you heal at daychange when you make it back to your province.

hope this helps.

Thank you for the welcome my friend. Yes, I see what you mean. I learned this myself in a game I'm currently in as well. Cheers
