Captured units. Are they really free?

I appreciate when the enemy I defeat leaves unit production behind. It seems I can finish them without additional cost (except if production facilities need repair).

But with so much going on at the same time, I have not been able to verify if I'm actually charged som ressource cost - just as with building repair or units in q.

Does anyone know for sure?

You are not charged for unit, you will pay for any structure repair/upgrade.

When you take over an adversary's province, beware of unneeded barracks and naval bases. For maintenance, barracks need food, and naval bases need oil ... 8)

Usually when I capture a province I cancel the production, not only to reset their process but get that little pittance of resources from that single militia being produced...

In all seriousness, by the time I've conquered a province and soundly defeated the enemy, the infrastructure in place has been beaten up so badly that it'll take days to repair.

I my present game, I captured from one player alone a cruiser, a fighter and a bunch of smaller things.

And in my previous it was a nuke bomber ;) I'd say it's worth it to complete the repairs then...

I generally will cancel production, particularly if it's a simple militia. But surprisingly in my last game (Endgame 1944), I recall instances of capturing provinces where more potent units- like AA, light tanks and SPA's- were been produced.

Sometimes during the first three weeks of a game, there may be infrastructure there that may be worth repairing- such as an airport or IC's and infrastructure in a resource rich province. And as I said earlier, beware of unneeded barracks and naval bases (for maintenance, barracks need food, and naval bases need oil) ...
