Coalition question

IF i am a member of a coalition and the 2 of us are all thats left. IF we decide to "retire", and I retire first. What will happen If the other person dissolves the coalition then retires?

The coalition will not exist any more, but the leader can leave without doing this by handing off leadership to another player.

i guess my question is, would gold be paid based on VP at that point? If I have more vp and retire first, will he be the "winner" since he retired last after the coalition was dissolved?

If you retire I believe gold is based on VP, regardless of being in a coalition or not.

If you stay as a COAL the gold gets split evenly regardless of how many points each of you have. That was my experience in my last COAL win where I had the Lions share of VP but everyone in the COAL got the same payout. :S

If you dissolve the COAL and RETIRE the winner is the top VP getter.
