Combat range

I’m a bit confused about the units’ effective range and how the mechanics works.

Lets say there are two enemy armies - Alpha and Bravo. They are not moving.

Alpha group consists of the armored units (f.ex. Med. Tanks) without any air cover, while Bravo is a strong army with a heavy AA defense. The groups stay close to each other, just as far to not get merged.

The question is - if I would attack the Alpha group with bombers with a direct attack, will my planes get damage from the other group which is close (meaning that technically both enemy stacks will get engaged in combat)?

I’m asking, because I experienced such situation when attacking enemy disembarking units. Even though I attacked the landing army (treated as convoy, thus defenseless) directly with my planes, they didn’t inflict any serious damage to the target, instead, they suffered a strong kick from the enemy Battleships group that was being close to their landing troops.

As far as i know, if you use tactical bombers on Alpha group, Bravo group won't defend, always on the ground if you use tactical.

If you use tactical to destroy convoys that are eventually ships, your planes will suffer some damage and won't deal too much because they are not made to attack ships, any kind of them, so you should use naval bombers there.

Indeed.

However, even though Tacs are not meant to attack naval targets, they should have do quite fair amount of damage to the unguarded convoy. I know this from my own experience, as I managed to sunk transports even with Interceptors.

That time however, I lost about half of my planes and inflict almost no damage (they killed like 1 or 2 convoy units) and I tried this 2-3 times. This is why I’m confused. From the other hand, the presence of the strong enemy Battleship group nearby the convoy would explain such combat result. Hm.

I managed to sink a 37-stack and a 21-stack of mixed [convoy] units with air power. You are correct!
