For what?

Aeroplanes are interesting toys but of no military value.

A pretty mechanical toy [...] the war will never be won by such machines.
β€” Lord Kitchener, on tanks

I question if he even reads his posts…

Commandos deal more damage offensively than defensively, whereas mech inf is 50/50. Also, commandos are more expensive, unlock later, have fewer levels, and take longer to produce.

Commando if you want to be offensive and deal damage to there cities behind lines and that. Mot. inf is more for defense in my stacks, quick moving and that. You can also throw them in with some light tanks, and other fast units for a spear head attack.

Also, terrain is important. I like using commandos in forest and mountains, because they don’t have speed debuffs in forest and gets combat bonuses.

Then again, it’s also useful for breaking down forts in any province, though now we also have the flame track for that.

Looking for improvement.

Yeah true, commandos are slowly becoming obsolete personally for offensive attacks. I have been using them as a more improved militia. Especially for late game in my cities and that.

I have never used commandos regularly, neither in 1.0 nor 2.0

That's fair, they are quite expensive.

Plus what use are they? Anti tank and especially light tanks do everything they do but better.

Isn’t anti tank a defensive unit?

Still better than commandos.
