My starter game went down to two of us within the first two weeks, so we voted to retire it; second one still has 5 of 10 at the 15-day mark, but suspect a couple have fallen off. A third just hit day 15 and there's only two of us left already, though we're pushing ahead anyway. The pattern is frustrating. I definitely support some sort of early-drop tracking; I just don't feel we shouldn't have to join a particular league or alliance just to get good games.
Coup d'état! People massively leaving games after the first few days
I have started my third game and for the third time the same happened: after only 3-4 days, about 10 people have already abandoned the game. "Coup d'état!" announced the newspaper. "XYZ, the leader of country XXX has disregarded his duties"... etc.
And below: "There are only 2 [or 3] players left in this game. If all players agree to retire, the game will end"... etc.
The first question is: why start a game in the first place, if you have no intention of playing it? It is disrespectful of the other players. Not like they are left with no army or have lost most of their provinces.
The second question is: since this is happening in each and every game so far (100%) as I have experienced, what are you intending to do. Another player I know from Supremacy has experienced the same thing. His theory was: the game is new, so people are starting a game to see if they will like it and they discover they don't like the game and will never play it again in the future. So, in the future only the true players will remain. If it is the case, when will this happen? In a week? A month? Six months? Two years?
He suggested that if it continues like this, we would have to find trustable people and only play with them in the future!
Here is a suggestion
Every time a player would leave a game before being left with X (4?) provinces or less OR before being left with less than 10 military units, a note will be added to the player's profile. Something like % of games left prematurely.
When starting a new game, the creator could setup a parameter like Maximum % of games left prematurely accepted to play this game (like max. 3%).
I have seen this in several on-line games:
- In a virtual hockey simulator, you have "reputation points". Every time you leave a league before the end of the season, you lose 25 points on your reputation, which can go as low as -200 points at which point you are banished from the simulator.
- On a known chess server, if you abort a game after it just started, it is noted by the administrator, for if this happen too often there would be a penalty applied.
There should be negative consequences for entering a game and then leaving it just after its start! You start a game, you finish it!

I currently have 5 games running. Game number 1, five out of 22; number 2, 3 out of 4; number 3, 4 out of 4; number 4, no idea; number 5, 6 out of 22. People tend to be more active in the Med map.
Simply, there should be a balance in maps. 10 map is ridic, i just joined a game and after 2 days, 3 out 10 remain. I got a bunk country in that one, thought i'd make it work, but lack or rares from the start hindered build/research.. meanwhile theres a high command turd spamming units sweeping across europe, so it's just a matter of time..
IMO, maps should be balanced for resources/units. (22 map is better) And wallet warriors should play other wallet warriors..That way they can talk trash to each other who gets a bigger allowance and dumps it into a game. That should be for them. This reminds me of gow, where kids spend thousands of real $$ to speed rush building stuff.. So if CoW allows gold turds join games with non wallet warriors, there's no point in continuing to play if theres that turd in the game.
I liked your post, thought it was funny, but just leave a game if you don't like a player.
Mess with the Bill, you get the scorn!
lol, i convinced the other 2 players to push thru towards the wallet warrior turd..Simply, if they battle each other, theyll waste time and units, allowing the turd to build up and continue his sweep.. So we got ourselves 3v1 right now. We're sharing maps and all.. lol. Im curious how this one plays out, don't mind losing that one, as long as the high command gold spammer gets beat up, my starting spot was lame altough been acquiring resource rich provinces, in the end, I wont be able to match the other two in gdp once we wipe out the wallet warrior
You might wanna consider the fact that your allies will gang up on the weakest one once they finish off the strong one.Pat wrote:

I do not agree with this statement. Be High command member don't make you a "wallet warrior" , it just give you some more options to manage your production queue. High command and gold are two different things not to be confused.Pat wrote:

However production queues are faster and essentially add a speed boost to troop production to the player that uses it the right way. Imagine what would happen if they had queues for research too -_-Seewolve wrote:

That is nothing you can couter by using your clock to wake up at the right time to launch new researches or production ;o) . Then it only make things easier to manage but don't give you the edge on your opponents like using gold.
Most people I know wouldn't wake up at 3 in the morning just to start researching another unit. That's why premium accounts come in handy.Seewolve wrote:
