Damage Distribution

Hello all!

I have a question regarding how damage is distributed amongst the various units in a stack that doesn’t appear to be answered in the wiki.

I was in a game a few weeks back and I warned a coalition member against having stacks bigger that 10 since only 10 units can attack but ALL take damage. This person responded by saying that larger stacks have the damage distributed more than smaller stacks, such that each unit in a 20 stack (for example) takes less damage from the same enemy stack when compared to a 10 stack being attacked by the same enemy stack. Essentially, you could have 10 really good units in a 30 stack and the other 20 could be cannon fodder so that the 10 good units take less damage than if they were on their own.

Is any of that true?

Granted, if true, such a tactic would be really risky in latter stages of a map when nukes are in play. As Sgt. Horvath said in Saving Private Ryan “I want to see plenty of beach between men. 5 men is a juicy opportunity, one man’s a waste of ammo.”

Thanks in advance!
