Destroyer vs Sub

I'm sure this has been asked before. I have a group of 15 destroyers sitting on top of 7 enemy subs bombarding away. The subs don't seem to be able to move away while I'm attacking, but they don't seem to be taking any damage either. Their status shows traveling and mine shows "bombarding bearing sea" as oppose to attacking fleet xyz. So what's the deal? does the sub have to be attacking me in order to be attacked and take damage?

I wonder if you are attacking a "ghost" or just an intel image.

I don't have an intel image of a sub, but here is one spies turned up of a destroyer:

Note the "spy man" next to the picture - first clue you are not seeing this unit currently

And the Intelligence from: line - this tells you when the information is from. Typically within a few minutes of Daychange when spies give their reports, or when aircraft did a patrol circle over it.

So in your case Mnet, do the subs show as old intel? If so perhaps they are not actually there.

Keep in mind that the ONLY unit that can see subs is a Naval Bomber. Otherwise subs are invisible until they attack and are engaged in battle.

Yea. That is why it is so easy for this to happen with subs. For a "normal" unit, the spy info would go away when you get close to it.
