Destroyers kill ground units, is this possible?

I just killed two rockets on airport with 3 destroyers level 4 or something. One shot and they are gone. I did not know that is possible, when you attack with destroyers ground units you get information that they can not harm them, here I did not get that kind of information so I tried. One more question, I have enemy interceptor in patrol over my 5 aa guns level 5 and he is there for a half of hour or more, he has 40% morale now, and he damaged my fortification and airport. Is that real?

"Then, when you run out of ammunition and the enemy continues to advance - to the bayonet, when they break your knife - to your hands, when they break both of your hands - to your teeth, when you get the last tooth knocked out, as long as you move, as long you are there - attack! When they mortally wound you, see to it that you fall in their way, so they have to go around you, jump over you or move you - bother them even in death!" speech of lieutenant Tasic before battle of Cer 1914.

No, in-game destroyer ("DD," in U.S. Navy/NATO jargon) squadrons have no attack value against ground units (except those moving as sea-going convoys, of course). That said, check the destroyer unit spec sheets for each level in the research menu. You will find that at each research level, the DD units have an increasingly effective anti-aircraft (AA) defense value. Combine higher-level DD squadrons with a couple of high-level battleships ("BBs"), and they can be devastatingly effective against virtually all aircraft units that dare attack them (caveat, naval bombers are much more effective against naval units).

What none of the spec sheets will tell you is that DDs can also have the same attack value as their AA defense value vs. aircraft units they are bombarding on the ground. In fact, I destroyed two L2 interceptor squadrons on the ground, at a coastal airbase, within bombardment range of my DDs, just last night. Moreover, because rockets are classified as "aircraft armor class," they likewise can be attacked by DD bombardment in those situations where the rockets are within the 20 to 30 km attack range of DD units.

Good luck and good hunting. I hate in-game rockets. In the CoW universe, they are historically over-powered against everything, and their in-game effectiveness against everything other than buildings and provincial morale should be greatly reduced IMHO. In-game rockets, as presently rated, are the work of the DEVIL.

I agree, rockets are over powered. I saw once man who used a lot of gold, he used militia and rockets only, his land was empty and if you go to take it, when he see where you are going he makes house, 2 or 3 militias, and then fires enough rockets to kill all your army. I did not know what to do, but guy quited, got bored or something.

Even if you don't use gold you can produce a lot.

Yes this is a long standing quirk of destroyers.

I do believe it also works for cruisers and battleships, but the AA value of low-level BBs is small. Of course, if you want to kill aircraft units on the ground with your BB battle group, wait til the enemy aircraft are refueling, they're treated as ground units, with only 5 hit points per squadron. It's a massacre!
