Dog fights

While they are refueling they turn to convoy with Infantry armor with 5 health each. I would try bait them to do a direct attack so they had to refuel, since it had Infantry armor while refueling use Tactical Bombers to kill them off easily.

DON'T: Make a direct attack against planes on patrol. They defend from the attack AND can hit you again on the way in or out, so you lose a lot.

DO: patrol your planes in the same area. Typically stacks of 5 interceptors and 5 tac bombers for the best effect, although mixing rocket fighters in is good also.

DO: Expect to lose a lot of planes this way.

Now my preferred approach to this is to run some armored cars or other ground troops around and grab all their airbases, so you force them to the ground.

If they are on patrol they will switch to a different airbase anywhere within their flight range, so you need to grab their other airbases in range first, and then grab the one they are patrolling from. They will flutter from the sky with their wings clipped and load into their convoy trucks for easy killing. This is easy to do if the airbases aren't well defended, and the player isn't paying attention. Not possible in all situations.

Thanks guys. Though I couldn't approach patrolled provinces with my planes, there were plenty of other provinces to use my tactical bombers in. My fighters were just eyes, as the computer outnumbered me 5 to 1. His fighters, were terrible at attacking my ground forces. In the end it suicided 45 fighters while managing to take out two ground units.

I was trying to take out the last airport before he finished the suicide, and I think I did ( fell asleep ). Newspaper said his last interceptor was killed by my interceptors which were patrolling the last airport.

Anyway, even though I lost 30 fighters to his 2 in the first couple hours it was fairly easy going without fighters.
