Is it an AI country or a human player?
enemy units after the country getting conquered
basically the title.
I have this enemy with stack of 21units of inf, arty, tank, etc, moving around with no clear goal. I can't face it bc it got like 7anti-tank, so ofc I'm bombing it with tac bomber cuz it got no AA but that'll take time and i'll be able to conquer its remaining land sooner than that. so if I do conquer it, does the unit simply disappear?

The units of a human player's country remain on the board as long as the human player remains active. If the human players loses all of his country's provinces, and then goes inactive, the units will be removed from the board.
When a human player whose country still has provinces goes inactive, the AI takes over management of that country's provinces, resources and units.
The units of an AI country are removed from the board when the country loses its last province.
These are recent changes that have only been implemented in the last several weeks. Previously, AI units remained on the board until they were destroyed; now, all AI orphan units are removed.
Here's a link to the recent thread where the change was announced and discussed:

And here's an older thread discussing the problem of orphan naval units:

There are many other threads on point, going back almost two years, and they are easily found by searching "AI naval unit," "ghost fleet" and "orphan naval unit."

I read one (i think it's the one u gave a link to) and it don't really say if it applies to Land unit as well, plus it's pretty old so it I tho could've been outdated.
Most players had objections to orphan naval units, and orphan land units were never perceived as a big problem. However, when the software programmers decided that a solution was in order, they implemented the simplest programming fix, which was to to eliminate all orphan units, including all naval, air and ground units.lt. gota wrote:

For me obvious that all armies / units are meant.
