Escorting Nuclear bombers
Does anyone know for certain what happens to friendly fighters if they are in the stack with a nuclear bomber when it goes off? What if they are on patrol over or near the site?

So if you can't stack them, what happens if they're patrolling/bombing an area that's about to be bombed by a nuclear bomber? Will it affect the air units?

Yes, if they are within a 50km radius they will be killed/injured.
