I donโt agree. This is meant to represent the USSRโs Winter War with Finland, in 1939. The Finns defended against the Russians for many months, and the Russians eventually had to send so many men the Finns were just overwhelmed. It was a humiliating war for the Soviets.
Finland has too many troops (hww)
Don't you agree that Finland starts out with too many troops in the hww?

I'm waiting play as finalnd
Finland had 200,000 troops in 1939 to face the Soviets.
The US army was the same size, though the navy raises by 200k more.
But they had only like 7 million total populationCarking the 6th wrote:

If the no no Germans conscripted at that rate they would have easily taken over the world!
manpower isn't everything
Sure - but the fact is, the Finns humiliated the Soviets in the Winter War, and that is reflected in the army size of Finland in the HWW map. If the USSR invaded Finland with a few troops, it would be unpleasantly surprised! Even today, Finland is nervous of the USSR, and has done everything it can to prevent another Winter War. Theyโve recently been accepted to join NATO, which they previously didnโt want to do in order to not antagonise Russia! Never underestimate Finland.FrancoMadrid wrote:

I know I slightly mock people who want more playable countries in HWW - but Finland would be so interesting to play. Iโm very tempted to choose it in the next HWW ACAI, and make a playthrough about itโฆ
make the gameplay
They did. Germany conscripted 13.6 million out of their 78 million (including Austria and the Sudetenland) population. Itโs just that they were fighting the allies, who conscripted 50/60 million and could have conscripted millions more if needed, larger than the entire German population. They simply stood no chance, not to mention that killing millions of โunwantedโ people wastes time and manpower on them all while losing out on possible soldiers.
If numbers were the only thing that counted, then maybe, but the Volkssturm (and its inability to turn the tide) is pretty good evidence that you need a lot more than just numbers - throwing in a bunch of men with guns wasn't as effective as they would've hoped.FrancoMadrid wrote:

Having adequately competent leadership and enough resources to sustain their military would have been just as useful as having a bigger military.
Not to forget the Continuation War, which altho led to a Finnish loss of territory (9% of their land and 13% of their economic capacity), allowed the Finns to remain independent and neutral in the Cold War, which sowed the seeds for future acceptance into Western institutions after the USSR fell. Altho Finland definitely lost those wars, it escaped with their lives and their freedom.
Not to mention that it showed how big of an idiot Stalin was. While trying to protect Leningrad, he ended up losing hundreds of thousands that could have fought the Germans, gained a new enemy, and placed Leningrad into the largest siege in all of human history.
what if the winter war didn't happen?
Finland would hate the Russians less, would be wealthier, probably still neutral in the Cold War and definitely in ww2, while the Soviets would save millions of lives that died in the siege of Leningrad and against Finland, while having plenty more men to fight the Germans with. They might not be as smart in the war though, as the winter war shows the USSR that they needed to modernize. On the other hand it showed Germany that the USSR was weakโฆ
what about Karelia
That movement is small and Finland was not idiotic enough to start a war with a major power, especially when they were allied to the UK as well. Finland only allied Germany because they hated the Russians and wanted their land back, nothing else. They were not imperialist San Artas!
however, soviets offered karelia for some small price of land. Of finalnd accepted...
What are you talking about? They would never have given up Murmansk, and Finland would not be able to afford it. Finland would not gain it.
Stalin offered karelia and Murmansk for a small part Karjala Isthmus.Finland said no and njet molotof the rest
Oh thatโs not trueโฆ he offered some useless northern forests for more populated southern lands. He wouldnโt give up so much for so little.
yep that's what I talking aboutCarking the 6th wrote:
