Fleet Bombard continues after sub intercept??

Case: An enemy cruiser fleet is range firing at a landing convoy. After their first shot, I intercept them with some submarines. We do some damage; and I expect he cruisers to engage my subs on THEIR tick as well. However, when their tick comes, the cruisers keep firing at my landing troops!

Is this normal behavior?? I think this worked differently in the past? It really isn't fair, the cruisers can't START firing at anything else when they get intercepted like this either, how can they continue their fire mission when the subs engage them?

They can always continue to open fire on other targets no matter how close the subs are. The owner of the cruiser simply needs to give an attack command on a target in range. It will then use its defensive tick against the subs and its offensive ticks against the other target.

This is the case for all ranged units btw. and this was always the case (also the case in the other games on our engine).
