The sad reality is that it's pretty quiet here but I hope it sticks around, even if only as a repository of information. The discord can't replace the knowledge base that the forum provides. It's diffult to search and discussions are fleeting, so there isn't a way to comb through past information well. It's also constantly overrun by trolls, assholes, and attention-seekers, making it even more difficult to have serious conversations.
Future of the Forum
Today I found out that Bytro’s sister game, Conflict of Nations, will be shutting down its Forum soon. So, this raises a question: will CoW’s Forum be closing, or will it stay around?

Ultimately only Bytro can decide whether the cost to keep the forum alive is worth it, but I hope they don't choose to shut it down.
I think Twitter and Reddit's recent moves of shooting themselves in the foot to maximize profit (or attempt to) should be a cautionary tale of what could always come with Discord, too, especially given their recent decision to change the user naming mechanisms. They're going to do what's best for them, and relying on them for a communication platform is a risk.
There are other platforms available that blend some of the real-time communication that Discord provides with the threaded, searchable approach that Forums bring. Some of these are open source, even, like Discourse. I have a couple other forums that use Discourse and I love it; it's a big improvement on the forum software of the past. I hope something like that would be considered as an option before it comes to closing the forum.
Didnt know that, but thank you for sharing.Brando Dilla wrote:

Overall, I think COW is more popular(?) and is doing better then CON, but that is just my opinion.
I've seen a bit of yotubers being sponsored by COW in the past month, and I'd even say that COW is growing.
The forum, on the other hand, is just kind of qiet and not active, but as jubjub said, it is a better storage of info and as I think, it is a place for more serious discssion, and the members here have knowledge that is not on the COW discord
I sure hope they dont shut the forum, that would not be great.

The forum used to be more active, I really hope they don't shut it down. There's clearly a large play base, idk maybe if the forum was advertised more to players as a place for more in-depth discussion and info.Cecil Rhodes. wrote:

What everyone has written here aligns with my viewpoint. The forum is a place where people can easily share their knowledge and advice about the game, and it is also easy to access that information several months or even years later.
to Bytro pls don’t shut down the forum cuz it’s good -destructo
idk mate, I wish they dont decide to shut it down since its useful and not fully dead yk.
I am pretty sure that maintaining the cost of the forum is quite affordable for bytro (since their revenues in 2021 according to bytro labs was around 1M euros while the cost of maintaining a forum a year can vary from 100$ to 20000$)
I didn't know that the Conflict of nations forum was getting closed.that was the first bytro involved game I played.I hope this one doesn't get shut down

There is always hope of survival! Especially considering that there is still a handful of people around. Eventually it’s very likely the situation here will turn around. It always felt like activity here comes in waves.

I’ve been seeing new faces around recently anyway. Perhaps things will chance this summer? If not, better enjoy it while it lasts.
