Garrision strength vs. hit points

Would someone help me a bit with garrision strength in relation to unit(s) total hit points present in the control dot of a province?

I thiiiink garrison strength = strength = highest value from each unit's damage output table

I’ll check right now, but I believe it was only defense against unarmored. Makes sense since they are stopping civilians from overthrowing you.

it’s true! Look here:

Correct. And it's not just defense and it's not just unarmored. It also considers, terrain, doctrine, HP and any other damage potential modifiers. It's whatever is highest in the Damage Potential tab.

Oh yeah not that’s true. Don’t know when that happened. I remember even my tanks only using unarmored defense. Mandela effect. Probably should change it to unarmored defense/offense though. Anti tank is not holding a city against armored vehicles lol.
