German Homefront

I think there should be a map similar to America: Homefront called Germany: Vaterland, which would have the states of Germany and surrounding areas. Bytro is a German company after all.

Don't throw that in on any thread you see, russ. The case is closed; and as to "the worst guy in the world", I'm assuming for a minute that he never acted on his views, at least not that any one of us know about. Everyone is entitled to his opinion, even if it is an abhorrent one. As Voltaire said: "I may not agree with what you say, but I will defend to the death your right to say it." The massive amount of hate speech he is receiving now (while being banned - he can't even say anything back) is becoming nothing but a series of "desirable opinion" echoes.

Close it and move on.

Yeah but unmitigated freedom of speech doesn't exist. Where I live (where he lives too) he would be arrested for hate speech. And when did he ever actually receive hate speech after being banned? Why play devil's advocate for that guy?

While I do agree that unmitigated insults to a practically dead man aren’t exactly the best thing, he did say some abhorrent things. You’re entitled to your opinion, but I’m entitled to disagree with it, and want you gone if it’s something disgusting. Plus, according to Talvisota, who is British, he quite literally broke the law in his own country (he’s also British). And he also broke the laws of these Forums, which is why he is gone. You’re right that it’s done with though, time to move on for the most part.

Agreed. Although classing the insults (probably deserved, tbh) as hate speech is... Weird

You said you hated him so much not just once or twice, but like ten times, and not just in one thread, but in thee or four. We heard you the first time. Again I tell you what I told you before (and I repeat this only because you're asking for it), saying the same thing over and over doesn't make it stronger or something.

I feel no need to discuss anything with you in PM, we'd quickly derail.

Sure, maybe he should have kept it to one thread, but how can you defend the claims that they're literally HATE SPEECH?

Well, when you're posting pictures of people getting hanged and saying something like they would be happy if it happened to him (and that's just the worst one, there were many slightly less revolting comments), how is that NOT hate speech? Sure you can always claim that it was "just a joke", or "only a metaphor", but I'm pretty sure you don't perceive it as a joke when you're on the receiving end of it. The far right doesn't have the patent on hate speech, you know. I realize Voltaire isn't very popular these days, but yes, the world would be a better place if people shouted less and listened more.

Where was the hanging thing said???

Here.

That’s a video of a Nazi getting executed… in this case Mister class was figuratively dying, which they were enjoying… I don’t think they are particularly wishing actual death on someone.

Then you clearly didn't listen to the explanations that Joe and I gave for it. It's a metaphor

Hhe's claiming that forum members are standing around it and enjoy seeing him die. People cheered that reference in replies. He's no longer a nazi war criminal, he has become TMC. Nothing "figurative" about those death jolts either.

When a far right guy says in some sleazy internet chat room that Ursula von der Leyen should die and be fed to the pigs, you're ready to shame him... yet that guy is probably also happy if Ursula just retires to some estate in the countryside, and he didn't ACTUALLY want to feed her to the pigs... if you can always frame it like that, maybe hate speech doesn't actually exist and people usually just don't really mean what they say...?

Oh yes, I listened to it very well, and it is a disgusting excuse. There's nothing metaphorical about making a comparison between a guy being hanged and saying you would be happy if it happened to TMC as well. When you really don't understand that this kind of thing goes across the line and makes yourself a perpetrator of the very same thing you are condemning, you really disappoint me.

I never said I would be happy to see TMC hanged. I wouldn't wish that on him (though a knuckle sandwich might be deserved), but him being hanged is him being banned, NOT HIM LITERALLY BEING HANGED. I DO NOT SUPPORT TMC BEING HANGED.

I contacted TMC privately, and here is what he sent back:

Forum attachment

(TL;DR wasn't actually me, someone hacked my account and wrote all this shit.)

Now, I'm not sure if I believe him or not. I want to believe him, that he's not actually that kind of person, but I also know my wanting him not to be like that is clouding my judgement. And I was not the person most insulted by this, and I did not see a lot of the posts that went before that were interpreted as jokes, so it's not my call. Myself, I am inclined to call bullshit until I see more concrete evidence, although I diplomatically did not say so in as many words until I've got more information.

What I messaged back to him can be summarised as a) yes, we all think/thought it was him, but it shocked all of us and served as a very harsh reminder of what can be hidden away on the internet; b) from what I, personally, knew of him before this incident, I find it easier to believe it was a hacker than that it was him; c) a lot of people, particularly Carking and Talvisota, have been very hurt by what was said and will not readily forgive him; d) although I really wish I could I'm not ruling out the possibility that this is all cover-up bullshit to weasel his way out of taking responsibility for his actions; e) according to some others there have been hints that he has these sentiments, but not knowing enough on that subject I'm going to leave those cases out for now; f) I am going to do what I can to work this out between him and the rest of the forum.

If someone could give me more information about those sort of 'joke' posts he's made in the past that would be useful, so I can ask him about that.
