Dresden had nothing of military importance in it. The excuse of it's being a rail junction is stupid, in that case why not just bomb the railway yards and rail junctions, not the city itself. You’re wrong, again. German records mention 200 factories in that area. Both were hit. Still, this is a full scale war against another state. Civilian casualties are bound to happen. Soviet and Nazi propaganda overstated the damage done and understated the importance of the city to the German war effort. And this should have stopped the allies from destroying a massive military and industrial center how? Germany seems to be reaping what it sowed here. When they started the war, they had no mercy. Their bombings of Warsaw throughout the war destroyed 85% of the city and killed tens of thousands of poles. When the Germans invaded the USSR, they raped and burned and pillaged and sacked their way through until their were pushed out. The Soviets, now filled with a dark lust for revenge after the deaths of 20 millions (that basically means that every Soviet knew at least one person who died) and ended in them returning the favor. If Germany hadn’t committed mass genocide in the USSR, not only would they have been able to find anti-communist allies in the Baltic states, Ukraine and Poland, but perhaps the Soviets wouldn’t have done the same thing to them when they took over. Don’t kill and bomb millions and not expect the same.

I've been to Warsaw and they had to rebuild the entire old town brick by brick. Why? Because everything, all the art, the libraries, the architecture and EVERYTHING (not to mention the entire population of the city that was reported to Auschwitz) was destroyed by flammenwerfers. Did they deserve THAT? Why are you so desperate to downplay nazi atrocities?
