Great Misunderstandings About Infantry
I remember when this game first game out there was a great buzz about the forums about how much grain infantry used up. I have made this thread to fix this, and the problems with oil I have heard a couple times too.
Back at the start, my three favorite units used to be the tac bomber, med tank and DD. Now they are they are the tac bomber, med tank and mechfantry. I used to be scared of using infantry because I was afraid it would use up all my grain and I would be stuck with a bunch of units that were draining my res that I could not get rid of so I built hordes of tanks and bombers. This was a mistake as I would take a couple losses if I ran into an AI's AT gun.
Then I decided to give motofantry a try and see how well I did. It was excellent. It took all the hits that would usually damage my tanks, didn't slow them down too much and did a good job of breaking AT guns. So I started using inf and motofantry after that. In one of my games, I decided to give mechfantry a shot. It is now one of my favorite units. Now tanks slow it down and I can topple any forces. I have plenty of grain to spare and loads of inf and high level barracks running.
You've all been wrong, build inf of all types to your hearts content!

Ah ok
it's all really good. it really is a very good tool for rapid advancement. but you have to wait a very long time is to get them. By this time you already have a large garage of tanks and upgrade their level is much more rational than to change a garage full. how do you think?
I know what you mean, I like to have 20 LT, 20 MT and 3-5 HT but infantry is very good. It also protects against air a little better and as I said before, it takes hits first.

after a certain time when you already have a choice, you have the question of what kind of technology you develop further. you can not have a garage with an equal amount of all and at the same time to raise all branches - you have to choose the priority that will be studied in the first place. If you choose too long in doubt or decide to go for a compromise - that you have to pay for it more resources, because you need to learn a lot of updates. if you are from the beginning of the game firmly believe and tselenopravlenno build only one kind of technology, you will save 2/3 of resources. so having a garage with a different technique is not rational. but what kind of equipment to choose for the primary? obviously if you choose one thing, you will lose the versatility of his army. Balance is your ability or skewed in favor of speed or power. you may not agree, but the speed is really not so important for ground troops. Tasks that require speed, it is better to entrust the aircraft
I require speed for my tactics, I jump from front to front very fast. That's why I like LT so much.

if you play in the ratings battle between the alliances, it is something that you will like the most. Once our team is specially given up everything except LT The result was a rapid victory in the last 7 days, and this despite the fact that it was a big map for 22 people.Butter Ball Bill wrote:

Nice, congratulations on such a good victory.

Is mech inf good for conquering unguarded territory? Or light tanksCzarHellios wrote:
Infantry are good.Motorized are meh. I would never use them.
Mech are excellent.
Light Tanks should usually be spammed early game. Then traded out in favour of Medium/Mechanized later on. Etc.
"God bless the infantry"
i really love the infantry, their good in defense and can train more faster than tanks (in a sufficient level), although you should avoid using them in the attack due to their stat line.
i will love them more since im hunting an infantry achievement

After I spam LTs in the early game, I pass onto MTs. My land armies are mostly composed of MTs, normal infantry, and LTs that are still around from the early game. My tactic is basically engaging the enemy on ig battles if possible, so I eliminate them quickly and take the rest of their country. If they don't engage, I simlpy divide my armies and advance.
About the infantry, I rarely use mot. or mech. infantry. In some cases I use mot. to go along with tanks, but normally I don't bother. Normal infantry does the job perfectly.
With less resource I may add.

So we agree, V1nd1cat0r.
The other two are faster and more powerful though.

Spot on : When you choose to build Mech or Motor Infantry , you are usually giving up the chance to upgrade your tanks , ships or planes and secret weapons for basically the same regular infantry with more speedSandevot wrote:

Eh, no. You are not. They got the job done at level one and often you have time to wait for more tanks etc to come.

In terms of resource spent, time to train, and effectiveness, the infantry win in all fields exept effectiveness compare to tanks.
Tanks are faster and stronger but by no means cheap, their quite expensive to research take time to build and very easy to counter with anti-tank, compare to the infantry and succeding units like motor and mech their more cheaper and can easily get the job done even in level 1, based on play style the tank is for aggresive players while the infantry is for people who are more flexible, you can't keep your tanks in defense for it will be a waste in resource and time, infantry fill the need to defend territory and rebuild an effective army for an attack.
One thing to remember about infantry is the upkeep, in one of my games my grain income is below 50/hr but I manage to build 50 infantry units alongside field guns, and support units, using the same method you can build more tanks but it will require more resource and oil as upkeep which will conflict with naval and air units.

LT's are a good unit to conquer unguarded territory, if you know your enemy just threw everything they had at you and failed. Moto and mech infantry aren't really necessary unless you want a swift advance, which would be limited by the speed of your medium and heavy tanks.
