Comintern SP rockets and HTs look viable against this guy.
In the end tho, they are able to Gain more tactical advantage due to superior troop numbers and overwhelm you
Hey Guys
I was wondering if anyone could help me figure out a counter to these types of stacks:
5 Motorised inf, 5 MT, 5 SPAA
5 Motorised inf, 5 LT, 5 SPAA
More Context/specific information in-game:
-Doctrines: He has axis doctrine. I have comitern Doctrine
-Naval: He posses complete naval superiority. 3BB, 3cruisers, 3 destroyers vs my none
-Air force: He has more than 3x planes in total but I believe we have an almost equal number of interceptors (as I have only int)
-Artillery: Artillery support will not be available as my artillery will be fighting his mainly. At times I may be able to land some shots but this can't be the main defence as he always keeps his units moving (add targets) and I can't be active 24/7 to keep my artillery following. Nevertheless, I will try to use artillery as much as I can but it can't be the backbone of strategy as I also am lacking in goods.
-High command/gold: He has high command and spends/buys gold. I do/have neither
-Military Ranking: He has 15%, I have 8%
-Economic Ranking: He has 50,000 tons. I have 44,000 tons.
-VP: He has 170 (1st), I have 80 (2nd)
-Day: day 4
-Diplomacy, military alliance: BANNED
How do you counter these types of stacks? Even if in this specific game my situation is not ideal, how would you counter it in another game?

Not at all karl, he should probably use bombers or sp artyKarl von Krass wrote:

Agree with using SP arty but not the bombers. he has 5 sp anti air not a good ideaClaudio von Panjim wrote:

RA+AT+Inf
Or,
SP-RA+AT+Inf
RRG works as well.
Heavy Tanks and SPArty and Rocket Artillery will be best. Counter their tanks with some tank destroyers.RagingInferno wrote:

So maybe 3 HT, 5 Arty and 2 tank destroyers. Check terrain. If it is forests use more inf and same with urban
Hey Guys
Thanks for the help
I noticed that a lot of you mentioned using some form of artillery. I know that artillery is deadly (you can do damage while receiving none) but my opponent is very active and If I bombard him with artillery he will rush forward (force march) his group ahead to meet my stack. I try to retreat where possible but I'm not always on and he is more active than me. The terrain is mainly forest (50% bonus for my AT and 20% bonus for inf) and I am mainly building Int,Inf, AA, AT, Art, RA (bit of an oil shortage for industry so far) I'm mainly worried about that mot inf/tank combination as the mot inf will plough through AT guns while tanks will plough through infantry and other unarmoured ordance.
I've started researching better tanks. I noticed heavy tanks and tank destroyers were mentioned. Aren't AT more effective than TD? You can easily produce more AT which offsets the tiny extra damage a TD does. As for heavy tanks, are they effective as they are so slow and hard to produce/mobilise.
I'm not trying to criticize the suggestions, I just want to understand why these particular units would be the best.
As for their superior troops numbers, it is rather meaningless as I only have one front on which I need to fight while has two! My economy is also much better (his early numbers from day 2 were boosted by his conquests) so I can out-produce him.
Another question is that: if he detaches say one LT from the stack, would a motorised inf unit defeat it in a 1-1 battle?
His naval superiority is starting to be questioned as I build some of my own units.
AT guns and TD are different. TD is definitely better if you have higher level tank plants and they are much more mobile so your speed is not decreased and so you can retreat with arty much faster.
In terms of activity, place arty in mountains and escort them with HT and INF and the slower speed for units is bad for the other side.
To your final question no. Mechanised infantry would win and have a big chance but motorised is not good enough. Commandos (I know its early game) would be best. Likewise, commandos are also better in mountains
If you are going mountain fighting instead of commandos i recommend militia lvl 3 and higher
Arty kills him fast, and on your teretory he cant catch you so hit and run.
He isnt always active thoIvan Bukovec wrote:

Arty, Rocket Arty, SP Arty, and Arty are all viable options in this case. It is quite an easy stack to counter.
As an update to what happened
I finally thought that I would meet some decent competition but he/she just ran their stacks straight into my entrenched stacks (+30%) and my artillery dealt decisive blows as well as I grossly overestimated how much artillery he had and I didn't have to move them around (he came to me). His attack bombers were quickly dealt with by my interceptors and aa and they did negligible damage. His battleships were quickly sunk by my ubiquitous subs although he managed to damage my industry in a city.
All in all for total casualties:
Me ~23k
Him ~190k
I completely annexed him although sadly it wasn't the intense game I was hoping for.
Anyway thanks for the help.
Not sure if its possible to ping someone (new to the forum) but TheWorldPalette, I managed to produce two commando's and tried them out and damn their pretty good with their stealth and ability to neglect fortifications (took out an entrenched rrg with them. Do they also neglect home territory bonus?
Thanks again
cant Negate home territory bonus.
